A Letter to the Parents

Dear, Parents.

Teenagers today are burdened by unprecedentedly weighty expectations. Academic, athletic, social. Practically every aspect of their lives brings with it a pressure to succeed. As a parent, you can’t control these circumstances, but you can certainly influence how your high schooler experiences them. It begins with preparing your son or daughter for the inevitable hardships ahead.

Adults understand that life is unpredictable – at times it can seem downright unfair. Live long enough, and you’re bound to be impacted by job loss, a serious illness, relationship issues, the death of a loved one ... the list goes on and on. Yet, despite knowing this, we do remarkably little to ensure our kids are properly outfitted to manage these and other challenges as they get older.

Schools aren’t equipped to perform this sort of guidance, and teenagers are inherently skeptical when it comes to listening to their parent’s advice. Unfortunately, “hoping” things work out is NOT a strategy. On the other hand, getting your student-athlete formalized, holistic training is a way to help prepare them for whatever lies ahead.

Leadersh1p Academy’s three pillars (Authentic. Courageous. Accountable.) help promote a sense of resilience, self-awareness, and agency in the student-athletes we coach. Additionally, our focus on expanding each individual’s mental health tool kit is yet another key differentiator when it comes to how we prepare high schoolers for the journey ahead.

By definition, tutors and trainers are “Transactional.” You pay a fee for a projected improvement in a specific performance area (i.e. math, writing, tennis, basketball, etc.). Leadersh1p Academy, conversely, strives to be “Transformational.” Our holistic approach has wide-ranging applications and life-long implications. It’s not a fee you are paying ... It’s an investment you are making.
